City of Atlanta’s Alcohol Technical Advisory Group to continue deliberations and vote on recommended changes to the City’s Alcohol Beverage Code
ATLANTA
– The City of Atlanta’s Alcohol Technical Advisory Group (ATAG II) is
scheduled to continue deliberations and vote on recommended changes the
City’s Alcohol Beverage Code during its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Committee Room No. 1, Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue, S.W.
The committee’s recommendations will be presented to the Atlanta City Council for consideration.
ATAG
II is composed of 17 members appointed by the Mayor, City Council and
community and business groups. They have been tasked with examining
issues with the City of Atlanta’s Alcohol Code which deals with the
licensing of establishments that sell beer, wine and liquor, as well as
the enforcement of such laws. As part of their review, ATAG II
conducted at least one public hearing in each quadrant of the City.

A Talk with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Part 1: Fulton County and MARTA
Now more than halfway through what he hopes will be the first of two terms, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed sat down with WABE's Denis O'Hayer for an extensive interview.
In part one, the Mayor talks about the future of Fulton County and criticizes the county's government for its management of the county jail (for a story on the response from County Commission Chair John Eaves, click here). Mayor Reed also discussed efforts by some state lawmakers to restructure MARTA, and the future of transit in the metro area.

Southwest Atlanta Community Budget Forum
The
three councilmembers, along with Mayor Kasim Reed, will host a
Southwest Atlanta Community Budget Forum on Tuesday, May 7 from 6:00 –
8:00 p.m. at Benjamin E. Mays High School, 3450 Benjamin E. Mays Drive
SW.
During
the forum, councilmembers will discuss accomplishments in Districts 11
and 12 over the past year and give constituents an opportunity to
express how they wish to see city resources allocated in Fiscal Year
2014.
The
city council is currently reviewing the administration’s initial budget
proposal which calls for maintaining a police force of at least 2,000
officers, expanding the city’s Centers of Hope program, and no tax
increase.
The
council will hold a series of city departmental budget briefings
throughout the month of May and will consider public input before
adopting its final budget.
